Senior Kotlin/Java & Elastic Search Engineer
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Senior Engineer with expertise in Kotlin*/Java, Spring Boot/Spring MVC and Elastic Search or Open Search to join our dynamic team in Holborn, London. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing high-performance, scalable software applications within our ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities and Project Scope: As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Designing, developing, and delivering high-volume, low-latency applications for critical systems.
Writing well-designed, efficient code using Kotlin/Java and Spring Framework.
Implementing and maintaining Elastic Search/Open Search for data indexing, querying, and performance optimisation.
Developing event-driven applications using Kafka or similar technologies.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
Participating in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure high-quality software development.
Required Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in Java and preferably Kotlin.
Strong experience with Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC frameworks.
Extensive experience with Elastic Search or Open Search, including query writing and performance optimisation.
Experience in developing event-driven applications using Kafka or similar technologies.
Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Understanding of Agile methodologies.
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant industry certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
