Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Senior Android Engineer to join our Engineering team in London. As a Senior Android Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing large-scale, high-performance services for one of the largest e-commerce apps in the UK. You will utilize your expertise in Kotlin, Retrofit, Dagger, Jetpack libraries, and other cutting-edge technologies to enhance our digital platforms and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of large-scale, high-performance services using Kotlin (including coroutines and flows), Retrofit, Dagger, Coil, Navigation components, Room, and other Jetpack libraries.
Contribute to the product technical roadmap by proposing innovative solutions and enhancements.
Design and support services and internal frameworks to enhance our technological capabilities.
Advocate for and implement best practices in software design, security, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
Drive engineering efforts throughout the entire product lifecycle, including decommissioning legacy systems.
Required Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in Android development using Kotlin.
Strong experience with engineering principles, software design, and implementation.
Knowledge of software security, cloud technologies, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD.
Ability to advocate for and implement agile/lean delivery methodologies.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in teams.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with Jetpack Compose for building modern UIs.
Familiarity with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
Understanding of e-commerce platforms and customer-centric application design.
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant industry certifications are a plus but not mandatory.
